October 04 杂想小记国庆，依旧没假。有意思的是有同事知道是共和国60年大庆，跑到我办公室问下班后是不是会搞个party庆祝。后来在网上看了阅兵直播，着实激动了一把，即便对几个巨幅画像持保留意见。中秋，恰逢周末。做客，Seattle地区的几个高中老同学小聚，第一语言已经让位于普通话，然后是绍兴话和英语。每次吃到家乡口味的饭菜都是感动加唏嘘。截止目前月饼还没吃到。 前阵子又有几个本科老同学从国内过来出差，还有别的州过来旅游的，故人皆依旧。每次都会聊起很多事情。和爸妈也谈过差不多意思的话题，既然当初选择走一条不同的路，大家的生活必然开始分叉，甚至渐行渐远。不可能回到原地，我不是说地理上的。 又到了家门口秋叶飘的时节，赴美第四个年头开始，第一份工作也走到了第二年。继续旅居在这个拌色拉的国度（我觉得比大熔炉更加贴切），一个感触是内心强大很关键。不知道我们这些在国内读完本科的，是留国内混还是留洋折腾成熟得更快。对自己总是诚实的：把工作做出色，把生活打理好，没那么容易。生于忧患，死于安乐，居安思危一点好。 September 24 My First Order for Online ServiceTonight I placed my first order for online service, or rather, my first payment to the software/service industry, though I've been I'M A PC for 13 years. Actually still a little reluctant to move on... Finally no way to walk it around, no free/open source substitute by community, or free license/service from my school or the company. Hmmmm, it's Yahoo!, not my favored Microsoft or Google. However, I have to admit Flickr is really cool, not to mention and its huge active community. Fine, I remember once I felt the UX of Flickr was so wired; and I was sick with blue cheese at Harold & Marilyn's when new to the States, but I EAT it now! September 20 悼念顾老师团支书同学在msn上告诉纪律委员同学顾老师过世了。不吸烟不喝酒天天锻炼身体，却30多岁就离我们去了，什么世道！顾老师是我初中三年的班主任，求学路上对我最好的老师之一，当初各种原因处罚我无数次（貌似几个男生班干部一直都是打击重点），把我培养成乖乖好学生功不可没。 September 13 One Shot to Death at UC Irvine Campus昔日模范城市，按照设计大师理念，短短几十年间在南加州荒漠上从零拔地而起。曾蝉联全美治安最佳城市，研究生母校所在地，一直为广大Anteaters津津乐道。 争论中的9万亿财政赤字，地球人无论男女老少人均借给美国政府不知道什么时候才会还的1500美元，约合10000人民币。明白美国从全世界60亿人身上搞去多少钱了吧！所谓too big to fall。美丽画皮继续撕开中。轮胎贸易战，祖国加油！ September 10 Company Meeting Again 果然，第二次参加Company Meeting就有点犯困了，中途几次离场跟朋友出去边看风景边聊天，最后在SteveB表演正酣时提前退场。整场三个亮点： Bing搜包包的可视化效果，女生少妇大妈们一定大爱。 StevenS从Macbook Air壳里面掏出更加超薄的跑Windows的Sony VAIO，有周星星电影的意思。 SteveB在与小兵们亲密接触时发现有人用iPhone，一把抢过，做欲砸烂状，最后只是放在了地上，离去。不管是不是排练好的，效果非常好玩。 Natal很不错，只是早就曝光过了，而Ray Ozzie演示的下一代user experience遥远了点，就不在此列了。顺便先对比下去年写的。别说7了，Windows Mobile 6.5都还没出来！ Quote Company Meeting 2008"Blue is for myself, and I'd like to show you orange." 不禁又想起刚过去的性格测试分析，和Annual Review时跟经理的讨论。 September 08 My First Annual Review 跟经理谈人生谈理想谈工作谈生活谈成长。一年之后，可以用英语聊这些了。一年之后，没有升级，没有涨工资。一年之后，学生气消退不少。话说性格决定命运，知识改变命运，时势成就命运。没有资格唏嘘世道多艰，只能再感叹一下这些年来性格的渐变了。 是人就会有惰性，得不时自我push一下。 September 07 赴美三周年整 这次周年纪念日是在旅途中度过的。 收到来自老爹老妈的周年贺信，大爱，原文如下： 观念决定方向，思路决定出路，胸怀决定规模，你具备这些条件，所以成功属于你。庆贺工作一周年！ 爸妈贺 然后我习惯性地Google了一下。。。 September 04 Insights into Personal Effectiveness Facilitated by Insights SeattleNice team training. I love most the methodology on differentiating persona conscious from persona less conscious and then the preference flow, which, obviously, indicates what we are pushing ourselves to achieve, or, in another word, the compromise between who you are, who you want to be, and who you need to be. August 13 3000英里的旅行合5000公里，自驾游深入没有网络没有手机信号甚至吃饭都成问题的米国中部大农村整整九天。Grand Teton唯一印象是Jackson Lodge对着Teton Range的那排巨型玻璃窗，这才是Mountain View！Yellowstone的狼找得那个辛苦，Hayden Valley穿越了无数次，从山顶眺望Grand Prismatic Spring真是漂亮，还有为拍出好片坐在trail上冒雨等太阳。先是Beartooth下来途径最美农田，后在Glacier的Logan Pass邂逅最艳野花，包括初访时在山坡上等太阳结果等来大雨，再访几乎临走时天边撕开一角终得了个夕阳普照。某人熊铃铛摇得敬业，大伙齐心协力熊狼牛都挺过去了却在holly horse shit trail大败而归。当地印第安人的传统每周四至日是不准卖酒的，貌似山窝里的Swiftcurrent Motor Inn不在此列，土特产huckleberry beer口味很好。 住了9天vacation rental cottage本组织委员历史性地几乎什么家务都没做，翘着腿研究下一天行程等饭吃就行了，心有戚戚焉，在家非被老妈骂死不可。最大感触是Alaska去得太早，美西北旅游震撼不到了。今年的年假用得差不多了，决心重归宅男，好好做Milestone 4，下次抢features时更有底气些。明年去Grand Canyon搞Rim2Rim去！ 路上聊到一个蛮有意思的问题，人有时会猛然发觉这个地方曾经来过。某同学提供的一个解释，大脑存储过程有时会出错，类似数据库的存储过程和索引原理，对某个存储单位的时间标记错误地标成了以前的某个时间点，可以是几天也可以是几年前，导致刚输入的信息，大脑再次处理时误认为是在过去的某个时间点，从而导致似曾相识的错觉。所谓自己骗自己，是可能的。
July 31 Lavenders and Jet Ski现在车厢里还满是薰衣草的味道。Team Morale Event玩摩托艇，均速40最高50mph的样子，下来时脸肿得像马蜂咬过，头发吹得像老一辈国家领导人，为啥同事们都没事呢？
July 30 Sleepless in Seattle@40℃没有空调，没有电扇，只好买大袋的冰块往家里背。公司的lab挂了，家里的wireless router得不断重启。自从赶上这金融危机，Seattle冬天雪灾夏天热浪，还有MSFT大裁员。tnnd，今天跑去公司的Products Fair 2009，差得热死在里面。 July 19 初赴婚礼记友人大婚将至，余夜飞尔湾。翌日晨，赴新港海滩玫瑰园，恭祝新人，兼摄影。后还校园，访故人。是夜千里奔袭洛城，众友飨宴避风塘，甚欢，几为动容。复明日，重游盖蒂中心。或失ID，千钧之际而复得，叹神迹也。及归西雅图市，忆南加二日，恍如隔世。念求学尔湾两岁，不甚唏嘘。是以为记。 Nikon D90 + Nikkor 24-70/2.8 July 13 Go for Next天光云影下的Crater Lake变幻着不真实的蓝色。游历了本地最有名的Mt. Rainer和Olympic NP之后，是该离开华州走走了。人来人往的地方，有很多事情要做，要好好做。曾几何时，TODO list从可以经常可以清空的queue渐渐变成不得不只挑重要的急的对付的priority tree。Seattle其实没那么boring，09年Green Day巡回第一站在这里，上周还有Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy，只是Eastside民工们把功夫花在宅家啃螃蟹上了，哈哈。漂在异国，抗边缘化很重要。
